Tarot: The Basics.

Tarot can be quite an intimidating subject. Most people who turn to tarot want answers, and a sense of inner peace. Luckily, tarot isn’t going anywhere soon.

The first thing to know about tarot readings is: you DON’T have to go to someone else to do one for you! Doing one by yourself is more intimate, fulfilling, and at a pace you can handle than someone else can provide you.

The second thing is that you have a MULTITUDE of tarot decks to choose from. A lot of them have the same basic format based off of one, however: The Rider-Waite Tarot Deck.

This is the one I will be covering in this series. The Rider-Waite Tarot Deck is comprised of two different sections: the major and minor arcana. The major arcana symbolizes major life events and the cycles of life. The minor arcana, equally as important, represents specific energies and feelings.

The minor arcana is split into four different sections:

  1. Cups.
  2. Pentacles.
  3. Wands.
  4. Swords.

Each of these has their own “energy” associated with it. The cups: emotion and romance, friendship. The pentacles: money, abundance, and resources. The wands: passion, high-energy, spontaneity. The swords: intellect, wit, and humor.

Each of these categories has a king, a queen, a page, and an ace; followed by 2-10 of the card. For instance, the three of cups.

The major arcana is much more plain. It has cards like: the tower, the fool, and the magician. These all have their own meanings as well.

And now how to actually read them. To do a tarot reading, all you have to do is take a deep breath, focus your energy, and pull a card. Some people prefer shuffling and then pulling the card on top. Some people split the deck into three parts and pick one of the piles. You could even just spread out the deck, and just pick one. Do whatever feels right for you.

And the last most important part, hear what speaks to you on the inside. The card isn’t as important as to what it’s trying to reveal that’s already inside of you. If you’re fearing change, you might get the tower. If you’re fearing being alone, you might get the king of wands. The possibilities are endless. Listen to what’s inside of you, and THAT will be your answer.

Keep My Name Out of Your Mouth -Spell-

We’ve all experienced gossip at some point, and sometimes we know exactly who is spreading the word. For those situations, I have a little chant that I have found effective to stop the person from speaking ill of you.

1). Focus on the person you wish to affect, maybe have their picture or something reminiscent of them.

2). Say the following while holding your focus

“I suggest my name you keep out of your mouth,

Or your reputation will be the one to go south.

For as you tarnish my name,

Yours will experience threefold the same.”

Note: You do not have to use threefold, as I know some people are uncomfortable with it. I simply use it to strengthen the effect of the spell.
